Microaire Liposuction vs Vaser Liposuction

The cosmetic surgery industry has made huge advances in the last few decades – especially when it comes to liposuction treatment. This treatment was first developed way back in 1974 by two Italian doctors named Arpad and Giorgio Fischer.

Since then, liposuction has made huge developments, meaning patients can experience minimal trauma and doctors can be more efficient when operating.

Two liposuction treatments we will look at today are Microaire liposuction and Vaser liposuction. We will compare both procedures and highlight why we believe Vaser liposuction should be your procedure of choice.

So without further ado, let’s get into it!

What is Microaire liposuction?

Microaire liposuction is also known as power assisted liposuction (PAL). What makes Microaire different from traditional liposuction is the motorised cannula which is part of the Microaire system.

The long thin tube which is used to insert into the patient’s tissue to remove the fat is the cannula. When the cannula is motorised it oscillates at a very rapid speed. This allows doctors to use less physical force compared to traditional liposuction and the patient’s body endures less trauma also.

Microaire liposuction results

The Microaire liposuction procedure has the ability to achieve excellent results in those areas of the body where stubborn fat resides. These areas include:

  • Thighs
  • Hips
  • Upper Arms
  • Belly
  • Flanks
  • Ankles

While the Microaire system is suited to treating these particular areas, the Vaser system also is. In fact, it will treat these areas with less trauma inflicted on the patient.

Microaire liposuction will still bear superior results when up against more traditional methods of liposuction. The main reason for this is due to the motorised cannula we mentioned earlier.

The cannula breaks up fat easier which allows the fat to be sucked out of the body efficiently. Surgeons also don’t need to use as much force when operating as the motorised cannula does the majority of the physical work.

Microaire liposuction recovery time

One of the biggest Microaire liposuction benefits is that the recovery time is relatively quick. Some patients can be back to their normal routine after around a week or so.

Thanks to the motorised technology which Microaire procedures use, patients can receive less trauma in comparison to more traditional methods of liposuction. Less trauma received means a faster recovery time.

It is worth noting that every patient and procedure is unique so recovery times can differ slightly. Patients also have a variety of jobs and activities that differ from each other so this can have a big impact on recovery after vaser liposuction.

If a patient has a physically demanding job then they might have to recover longer than say someone who is in a sedentary position most of the day.

Microaire liposuction or vaser liposuction?

It’s clear that Microaire liposuction has huge benefits compared with traditional liposuction procedures. Although, how does it compare to Vaser liposuction?

In short, Vaser liposuction offers the same benefits as Microaire and then some!

Vaser liposuction uses ultrasonic technology which emulsifies fat. This causes the fat to turn into a liquid state which can be sucked out easily, all while inflicting minimal trauma. Vaser is a far less invasive procedure compared to Microaire, which is why recovery can take less than a week.

An added benefit of Vaser liposuction is that it can tighten the skin whilst fat is being removed by the cannula. This is thanks to the heat produced when the ultrasound is in action. When the skin is tighter it causes less sagging meaning a better result for the patient.
